I'm glad you understand how all this works. I don't get at all why they turn people down. Either someone is handicapped or they aren't. Hello! Are they hoping the people applying will just go away thinking they can't get help and end up as homeless people or what? This is a pet peeve of mine and it is ridiculous that everyone has to hire a lawyer and in the end the government ends up paying what was rightfully yours in the first place.
I could just pull my hair out for the stupidity of the way the government works.

You know why they do it JJ it is because they are hoping people will give up and not bother feeling like it is a waste of time. It is sad you work all your life and have to fight for what is yours in this case she deserves off my 20 year work record and her fathers who worked longer by a few years.

I already asked them what they needed from me so I am ready to answer their questions. They still have to get her records to help with their final decisions so we will see. I was told by others that sometimes with kids it is faster and easier but it would be here for her when she is an adult and needs it.

So this is how the interview went they did not even ask me all of the questions the worksheet they gave me to prepare and the guys attitude stunk. He made comments when I said her psychologist suggested I apply and said "doctors do not know anything", he also said ADHD does not mean anyone just qualifies. I pointed out to him she has co-mords and he then said "well it does not mean she does not quailfy" His questions and responses were wishy washy to me and he also said if she does qualify and they think we make enough money she will get nothing and added when she turns 18 she has to be re-evaluated as an adult and said by then she would not need it anymore since her situation should improve. I am sure Mr. uptight's theory is she will grow out of it we can only wish. I will know in 10 days the results and another interview if she is accepted, my gut says this guy is a censored word and he most likely will deny the case. I will re-apply and if again denied I will see an attorney. I felt degraded after the phone interview.

Oh that makes me mad. What a jerk. Some people just don't have one ounce of people skills. I'm sorry it made you feel bad. At least you know ahead of time what the stupid ropes are. Well you've been through step one and I'm sure they are hoping you are discouraged now - enough to not bother pursuing it. Grrrr.

When I applied for Shannon they said the main reason she was denied was because she was in the regular classes. At the time she was in a private school & there were no learning support classes. If Annette isn't in special ed classes thats a big factor for denial.
