Good news/bad news. The good news is Sean's teacher has agreed to do the communication book. She will be sending it home each Friday. Yay! I got the first one today-which brings us to the bad news. He has been calling out frequently, constantly talking, refuses to clean up when told, colors when he is supposed to be doing his work, and is "pre-occupied" with his crayons to the point that the teacher now has to keep them on her desk. I guess if I hadn't asked for the book I would still be clueless as to what goes on in the classroom, because I thought things must be going really well. You know-the old "no news is good news." But I am just so happy that she is doing this-not only will it show if the meds help at all but the problems will all be documented.

And if the teacher can write it down in the book, maybe you won't hearing about it on a daily basis....
I used to love the book I had when jake went to the daycare center as a toddler. I still have it as a matter of fact...

Make sure she also lists the behaviors that Sean exhibits that are appropriate behaviors and/or strengths for him. Anytime one writes a Behavior Intervention Plan, the psychologist or counselor MUST include appropriate behaviors, as well, with the idea that the child's strengths can be used to compensate for his/her weaknesses.

I like Lillians suggestion. If they include his appropriate behaviors then you'll have something to praise him about too so he's not getting too down on himself just hearing the negatives.

Got a "Sean had a very bad day" note home today. This was a separate note not to be confused with the communication book. I'm going to have lots and lots of things "in writing" to use as proof for my "I want him evaluated" meeting.
