I was volunteered to be the spokesperson for a group of us that want to address the bullying issues at my daughter's Jr. High school. We also want to know why the schools tell our kids things but never address the parents. I called to get on the agenda. The next meeting is Dec. 5th. I had to leave a message so lets HOPE they get back to me in time that we can have our say.

I hope you are going to be able to have your say. If they don't respond in a few days I'd send a certified letter telling them you want to address the issue in the next meeting. That way they can't worm their way out - claiming they didn't know. Hopefully that won't do that and will get back to you.
Good luck on preparing your speech.

While I was online with the administration building I contacted the special ed dept & told them I have been trying to get an IEP meeting but the principal wasn't calling me back. They agreed to contact him for me & get it set in motion.
funny thing I told both departments I was only home today until 3:30 & what did I come home to?? Messages from both! I hope they are reachable tomorrow!

Guess what happened today?? Shannon was like 15 minutes late coming home & I was getting worried. When she walked in I asked why she was so late & she told me they had a bomb threat at her school & they had to evacuate & by the time it all got sorted out they were late getting on the buses. She said they were outside for THREE HOURS! What I want to know is WHY did they not call the parents to come get their kids?? I hate this district.

Well thats nuts having them outside for all that time. And I imagine it wasn't exactly warm out either. I'm sorry your school is going down the tubes. I hope you can do something to help turn things around.

What a mess! I would not be too happy with the school district either right now.

When you get to speak there, maybe you can bring up that the kids should have been sent home rather than left standing there for so long.

You can count on it Barb! One of the things we want to address is the lack of communication the school has with the parents. If I'd have known there was a bomb scare today, I would have picked Shannon up for sure.

Misty i would be mad too if my kids were standing outside for 3 hours. I don't know what the weather is like where you are but its cold where i am. Last year my son's school had a thermomater (sp?) break one day while a teacher was cleaning a science lab. The kids were not in school on this day it happened. The next day my friend calls me and says he heard on the radio the school had a mercury spill and all the kids had to leave their shoes at school and the school was being evacuated. Well i pick up my son everyday anyways so i dont throw a coat on and i was cleaning so i just had a pair of flip flops on. I put my daughter in the car, we go to the front of the school where i pick him up. The principle comes out and says all kids are going out the back door because that is where they have to leave their shoes. I go to the back door and i was already freezing cuz it was only like 30 degrees. And we stand there for 30 minutes. I seen the priniple and said i have not seen my child come out. I ask are there children going out the front door. She assured me no kids were out front. After another 30 minutes a family member of mine sees me and says your son is out at the front door. I wanted to choke that principle we all stood outside for a hour for nothing. And my son had no shoes on. Some kids didnt even have socks on and they were still making them stand outside. It was terrible. The local media was there and parents were just yelling. I hate my district also!
