Sweetpea, that is just awful and Misty, 3 hours is crazy! My daughter's school had a bomb scare a few weeks ago and we got a recorded phone call that night. They were only stuck outside for an hour. Our school now has a system in place in which we get recorded calls if anything has happened at the school. Misty, it might be a good idea to suggest it to your school at your talk and yours too sweetpea. Misty, I hope you are able to get that IEP meeting soon. That's ridiculous that you had to wait so long and had to make so many calls. I hope your talk goes real well about the bullying issue too. You know that issue is near and dear to my heart.

If there is a bomb threat, everyone is outside, including the people in the office, so there is no way to call the parents. If the kids start using their cell phones, chaos will follow. Can you imagine some parents picking up their kids, some not, and some kids asking to go home with parents they know, but the school's being unable to verify whether or not this parent's name is on a release form for the child because no one can go inside to check? Nope. All the kids have to stay. It's the only option. I am curious, though, why the kids were outside for three hours. Were dogs and bomb teams brought to the school? If so, that's serious stuff!!!

I know...I thought of all that after the fact, Lillian. I do think they could've sent a letter home informing us of what had gone on instead of letting us see it on the news though. Shannon said they had the bomb squad there. I'm sure she's right. The HS had a bomb threat a couple weeks before & they had the bomb squad there too.
