OMG! I feel the same way as Shannon about changing in front of other people. My embarrassment when I was Shannon's age was caused by the fact that I was skinny and didn't have any boobs. Well, I'm not skinny anymore , and I definitely have boobs, but I STILL will not change in front of people or run around naked in front of people. When I go to the gym, I am the woman in the steamroom, sauna, and hot tub in her bathing suit, and I change clothes in the private dressing room behind the curtain. I'm with Shannon on this one.

Guess it pays to live in a small, poor district that has no pool! Our middle schoolers do not have to change for gym, but high schoolers do.
I was like lillian, I was skinny, small for my age and had no boobs...did not start having periods even till after age 16. And we had those horrid one piece polyester gym suits that zipped up the front...? Remember those? Hated them.
I don't see why the schools think it is okay to rip these kids' privacy away from them. If they are made to change, changing rooms should be made available.

Misty, I'm glad you decided to have her do the written instead and the school is O.K. with it. Gosh, I wish I had had that option when I was in school. I was raised in such a modest home and to have to change in front of people was horrible! And at that age I think every kid finds things wrong with their bodies. If feel so sorry for other kids that may be really self-concious about their bodies and aren't able to opt out.
