I found this marvelous website that I wanted to share with you all. Someone may have found it before but just in case I wanted to share it because I have been through so much with my daughter and her eating issues. This website has so much information and you can communicate with other parents with children with sensory issues. Here is the website and I hope it is of help to you. www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/index.htmlCG, Misty, JJ, John, I am also wondering if maybe we could open up a topic on this specific issue as it is a major one for some of us.

Thats a possibility, Losty....i'll pose your question to the other admin. Would you be interested in moderating it if we do?

Misty,
I do love to help when I can but I feel bad that I can not be around as much as I'd like. Because of my ADD sometimes I have to literally turn off everything in the house so I can catch up with housework. The house was horrendous and I spent a couple of days trying to catch up. Sorry I haven't been around. I would totally understand if someone wanted to replace me and moderate my board but for now I am here as long as you want me. I finally got a couple more reps. in my area and I'm hoping that will ease things up for me and I can start keeping up with the house better and can be here more. Friday we see the Orhthopedic Specialist and we'll find out what needs to be done for Becca. Praying that the news won't be too bad. Trying to emotionally deal with the whole thing. Please do keep her in your prayers. Thanks so much.

Losty, You were honest about your availability when we first discussed you becoming a moderator so we were aware of it and prepared to deal with it. We are still pleased with the job you are doing. Don't worry about it.
I do hope those reps are able to take some of the pressure off you and that everything goes will with Becca so have more time for yourself.

Thanks CG and it has been better since there are two other girls that took some jobs in my area. I do need some time to get my house back in order and that is what I have been trying to do. Hopefully by the beginning of school I will have things in decent shape. As for moderating another board I think I need to wait on that and see how things look in September. I think they will be better. Thanks so much for your patience and support.

Frustrated with my favorite little monster today. We are going over my Mother's for spaghetti dinner tonight and Becca refuses to eat it there. It's quite obvious to me that this is part of the Sensory Disorder but it's still just so frustrating. I know forcing her to eat it there is not the answer but is letting her get her way and eat something here much better, ugh! Now I have to deal with my Mother's hurt feelings. So frustrated........

my youngest son as few Sensory problems, last night in the uk was bonfire night, i took my boys to a hugh firework display, and my youngest had his fingers in his ears the whole time because of the noise, i said we didnt have to go but he really likes all the colours of the fireworks, and said he will be fine,
he is such a picky eater aswell, i worry that he is unhealthy due to his poor diet, all he will eat is sausages, sausage rolls, chips, and toast, and untill recently it was dry toast but now has honey on it

Sensory issues are tough to deal with, but it sounds like your son is at least aware of his issues & willing to find ways around them. I think that's awesome. My daughter didn't like socks...I guess because of that seam across the toes. Even in the dead of winter she'd be barefoot. Just this past year or 2 she started wearing them without a fight. Shes 13. She also cannot touch paper if her hands are the slightest bit damp. This one drives me nuts because she always tries to have me let her get her shower before doing her homework & then of course she CANT do her work for at least a half hour. ARGH. She also doesn't like drinking out of plastic cups.
As for your son's diet, if the Dr isn't worried then I'd say he'll just outgrow it. Do you have him on a good multi vitamin? the things he WILL eat, just try to make as healthy as possible so he gets the most nutrition as possible out of it. I'm not sure what a sausage roll is, but give him whole grained toast, try turkey sausages, make the french fries in the oven to reduce the grease.

I can relate to your son's hating loud noises. Maybe you can get him some ear plugs to use when you go where you know it is going to be very loud such as at a fireworks display.
