Bugsmom, Please accept my apologies about getting your son's age wrong, AGAIN! Between my dad's cancer surgery and the vet advising yesterday that I put my thirteen-year-old dog down, whom I consider a member of my family, I have been kind of a zombie this week. Duh! Geeeeeeeez. Sorry. I think I need to go to bed.

You already have recieved a lot of good advice from others, but I just want to add my 2 cents. You are very involved with your child and gut feelings are good to follow up on to either confirm or get rid of the fear of LD's and other stuff.
For a long time I denied that my daughter had an LD and postponed testing for a couple years cause I did not trust the school system and was dealing with my untreated adhd. Anyway, get the testing done because if there is an LD they can drop further and further behind in academics and the kid may need to be taught differently. My daughter is so far behind in some of the basic math buidling blocks that each year she gets behind on the more advanced stuff, the more she is going to have to catch up on.
Follow those motherly instincts if you are thinking clearly - I bet they are right most of the time!
