This is the program that Sean was placed in today. Not exactly what I was hoping for but at least it's something. This program is 3 nights a week from 5-8pm. The one I was hoping for was 5 days from 9-3. With him not being done until 8 he's not going to get to bed until 9 or so which doesn't go over real well with me. Once school is out he will possibly be switched to the full day program. Also at this point our insurance has only approved 6 visits. We were told that he will definitely need more than that and they will call the ins. co. again to get approval for more visits. I really hope this helps.

Well the good news is that Sean loved the program! He is excited to go back tonight which makes this all so much easier as it was a little scary just leaving him there. They eat dinner there, make crafts, have "group" and played some games. The thing that I feel makes it so good for him is that the rules are very VERY clearly defined there. He knows what is expected of him and knows what to expect if he does not comply. He was able to explain the whole system to me-which is rare for him he usually seems not to"get" it. He had to sign a paper agreeing to the rules & saying that he understands the consequences which are immediate and guaranteed. I am feeling very positive about this right now!

Katie,
That sounds like a good start to me too Katie. Things can usually be worked out with insurance. My counselor has to get approval after so many visits with us and it has worked out fine so far. I hope the full day program works out well too for Sean. Looking forward to seeing your posts on how the program is going so far.

Glad to hear that it went well! Always easier to convince them to go back after a good day! Hopefully he can get in the day program like you like, too! Now you'll have 3 hours to almost relax when he goes!!!

I'm so glad he likes it!
If he can get into the day long program this summer, the evening program may be just the ticket to help him learn and adjust to the new rules before he has to go the entire day.

Tonight was Sean's psych eval at the hospital where he goes to the IOP. The psychiatrist was wonderful. She did in an hour and a half more than the one we have been going to has done in months. The only bad thing is once he has completed the program she will not be able to see him but she did agree that I should start looking for a different psych. She at this point says Sean has ADHD, BP, OCD, and an anxiety disorder. She could not believe that the school refused to evaluate him and said she would write a letter to the CST saying that she thinks he should be. She also gave him a RX for Depakote and tomorrow I have to take him to get some bloodwork and then we can start the meds. I cannot believe it!!!!
