This is a followup to my previous thread. adhdldsupport.proboards107.com/index.cgi?board=public&action=display&thread=2431In previous testing it was recommended that my daughter have an OT evaluation to follow up on deficiencies found by neuropsych. I work with adults with developmental disabilities and my boss recommended that I contact a certain OT person. I called and was able to schedule an appointment within a week! A few days before the appointment, I had an interesting encounter. I was at a conference on Transition Planning (for my 17 year old son), and the lady next to me turned out to be the person's doing my daughter's OT eval. She met with us last Saturday and spent most of the time letting my daughter get used to the office and all the fun toys. She did one short test on drawing and motor strength, and then we will follow up on the 21st. She stated that kids do much better when they are more familiar with the environment and their test scores are more accurate. The tester stated she would be interested in meeting with IEP team as she has lots of ideas of things they could be doing to help daughter be more successful. All in all, I was very happy that this seems like someone that will be thorough and wants to help in the IEP process.

Wow that is cool, it is amazing who you run into during these times when you are at a loss on what to do, I have been blessed to meet many great people that are willing to talk about this stuff in my daughters situation and it is good, knowledge and others that are not so vested in the situation with emotions helps me a lot, it helps me keep it all in perspective!

That woman going in to the meeting with you will be worth her weight in gold! Wow! They will have to give whatever she says consideration as she is doing the testing and they won't be able to tell her she isn't understanding the results. Yahoo!
