Lillian - How did your son participate in his IEP meeting? Did he write some stuff down? Did you help him organize it? I am prompting Ran to get ready for weds at her IEP thing and her teacher friend at school that she talks to a lot, is also helping her out with that. The only idea she has shared with me at this point to be successful is - I will ask the teachers for help! (and from my high school orientation thread, you already know where that all went!)
So I have been doing some homework today on bullet ideas for her issues and I am wondering if I should give her an outline that she can fill out like this?
1. What are your strengths?
2. What are your challenges
3. what is working for you now
4. what do you think would help in high school and what do you need/want?
Then I went through some accomadation bullets and listed a ton that I think are pertinant to her issues and I am wondering if I should give those to her as ideas she can pick from or think about and add her own?
What do you think? I know you responded to the frustration thread I had here and thanks for that, it was right on with you and barb, but I am trying hard here for her to feel a little in control and accept all this, but I also do not want to push her too hard as she is showing signs of stress and anxiety I have not seen in her like this before.
You all that know me pretty much also know that I am personally most effective with written plans for my own issues and break it down into steps and all, so I am trying to get this done for a good meeting, so I need and accept any other ideas and things that have worked for you all.
