I was leery of the Abilify at first because I had not heard much about it and Sean is only 7. But at that point I felt that we had to give it a try. It has helped him in so many areas. He is less hyperactive and his behavior at school has really improved. His focus is much better and his writing went from illegible to pretty neat. He has also not put his hands on a single person and that was our greatest concern. When we went to a friends house recently and there were about 6 other kids there. I was completely on edge because I know how things usually go-especially because they were much younger than him(his favorite target) I could not believe it but there was not one problem. My friend could not believe it was the same kid.

He wasn't a 4-8 guy until after the Risp. He still had outbursts, but they were spread throughout the day. Rebound sounds like a pretty good explanation.... I am considering changing physicians. I am not very pleased with this psych. He seems like such a pill pusher. There are no other ADHD psych's in town and there are no pediatric neurologists in town. We were driving an hour to see a neuro because he is the closest, but then my ins decided not to pay and now I am in collections. There are only 4 weeks of school left. They have already done all his testing for next year. I may experiment with taking him completely off his meds and starting over. I would call the dr, but like I said, I am really not confident with his care. He is going to be on medicaid starting in June. If I can just hang on, then I'll be able to go back to the neuro with no problems.....

If when in doubt go with your instinct I learned that the hard way long ago. Obviously the meds he was on was not working and starting over is something I would do. I wish you the best.
