The Cyber school meeting was wonderful. First the showed us a short power point presentation, detailing the basics of what to expect. Then each family met with a representative who let you ask any questions you might have. We didn't have many since we've been really looking into it for a month now.
They have an excellent program. They pay for whatever gym type class your child might want.....a gym, dance class, karate, etc or they can just walk the dog or take walks on their own as long as the parent certifies that they did the required # of hours. Same with arts & music.,...you choose & they pay. They have a program called Family Link (which we signed up for) that enables cyber families to stay in contact with one another. They send you a check each quarter for half of your internet services.
Once they assign a supervisor to your family (within the next few weeks) our person will call us & they will work with us to get the best courses for Shannon. They have her IEP & they tailor each class to the needs of each child. We will then get a user name & password to access the site. In July all her books & computer (along with printer, ink, headphones, microphone, etc) will be shipped out so we have time to get it set up before school starts.
Shannon (or I ) can call her supervisor at any time if we have any sort of problems & there are tutors available all day & evening that she can access through chat or IM any time she needs help with her classwork.
After we got her enrolled she saw the nurse right there & they weighed, measured & checked her eyesight. Then we had our pictures taken & it was over.
They have field trips throughout the year & other get- togethers & activities we can sign up for if interested. My cousin's daughter enrolled today too so we have someone to carpool with!
