I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lisa. My husband and I have 2 boys - ages 10 and 5. We live in Ohio, near Springfield - in a very small rural area. Our 5 year old has been diagnosed with ADHD. We were told he was Autistic when he was very young, but now they've changed their minds and say that he has ADHD. He's going to Kindergarten this coming year and we're pretty concerned about it. He was in a special needs preschool for almost 3 years and this is a big change for him. I'm just hoping to talk with other parents/kids who've been where we are and hopefully we can help others in some way too. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July and stays safe!

Hi Lisa,
It is nice to meet you. Sounds like you have been on a few ups and downs as far as DX's.
I'm probably one of the only members here who does not have a child with a disability but I'm here for my niece (ADHD (plus)).
I hope you will just make your self at home and jump in where ever you want. We love making new friends here!
A big Welcome to you!

Hi, good to meet you and glad you found this site, there are a lot of parents and grandparents here that will give you some pretty good input! I hope your son does well in kindergarten and likes it there! Are you doing to get any special accomodations with your son?

Thanks for the welcome! I've been looking around and you all have some great information here.
lcdc1 - you asked about special accomodations. Right now they are planning on placing Layne in the Multi-handicapped room. I've met with the teacher and she seems like a wonderful person. She was very sweet and said she was going to write a grant request for our son and hopefully receive some money to purchase items for him.
I'm pretty new to all of this and I'm trying to learn about new things that may help him.

John is right, if someone here does not know an answer to a question, there are some really great researchers here that will likely find something out for you.
I am also a fellow Ohioan....but I am from the NW corner.....closer to Toledo...a tiny town called Paulding.
Welcome to our cyber family!
