As many of you know, I am now working for Dan at Return on focus, helping Maria recruit for different programs similar to the roundtable many of us participated in, in NYC.
There is another opportunity for us now. We are looking for parents of children who have ADHD and would like the opportunity to have their voices heard. Parents know their children best. We know what they need, what works, what doesn't, the best resources to go to for help and the things that are meant to help but only serve to frustrate us more. We are getting the chance to express our views and have some influence on the lives of our children and children everywhere.
There is a teleconference tentatively scheduled for Dec.3, 2008. There are also plans in the works for another get together similar to the roundtable, which will hopefully be during the first quarter of 2009.
If you participated in the roundtable, you have probably heard from Dan about this. If you haven't, contact Maria to sign up.
If you have never done this before, I urge you to consider it. Its a chance to get together with people you know online, have fun and do something positive for our children. The meeting will take place in a centralized location and will last about 1 1/2days. All expenses will be paid so you really have nothing to lose.
If you are interested, please contact Maria at needmoreinfo@yahoo.com. If you have more questions before you want to make a commitment, feel free to pm me or e-mail Maria. We will be glad to answer them.
We want as many people as we can get so please, share this with your friends and co-workers who might be interested plus post on other sites you belong to where other parents of ADHDers can see it. If you aren't allowed to post, pm them about it but offer them the opportunity. Even if you choose not to go, they may love the chance.
We had such a great time at the one I went to, got to meet each other, learn new things and most importantly, we had the opportunity be involved with making the ADHD Roadmap kit which enabled us to share with others that a child with ADHD has value and can have a future. We can make a difference but we have to be willing to step out, get involved and speak up. If we don't, someone else will and they may not cover the issues that are important to us.
With the teleconference scheduled for Dec 3, time is of the essence so please, contact Maria immediately so you have time to get involved. If you can't do both but want to do one of them, that is ok also.
