When Shannon was in 5th or 6th grade she would complain constantly about her knees. She had trouble walking up the stairs, complained about it hurting , would cringe away if I so much as touched it. We went to the Dr.'s & after a lengthy exam was told that she had Oshgoode Schlottingers disease, which is a type of growing pain where the tendons & bones grow at different rates. Fine. So she gets an excuse from gym & she even iced it from time to time here at home. Last night we were sitting around talking & she tells me she never had a thing wrong with her knees! She said she made all the pain up in the hopes of getting out of gym & she couldn't believe it when the Dr. supported her! She said she thought for sure it was over when I made her go get the exam. I can't believe she has been lying for 3 years! It makes me mad but at the same time it cracks me up.

Well that little stinker! But boy can I relate to her. I hated gym and was sick many days when it just happened to be gym day. What a coo for her that the doc backed her up. I can see why you are finding this rather humorous.

Since she is such a good faker-fibber I'd be questioning everything she says now. This may end up biting her in the behind.

I think, if I were still in my teen years I'd be giving it up too. That kid of yours, Misty, must have nerves of steal to STILL not tell the truth when heading to the doctor. Mental note for Misty's head: This kid is good actor!

I showed her the comments here & when she got to yours,JJ about not being able to use that again to miss gym if she ends up back in public school she said "Oh yeah...i didn't think about that". I don't know about nerves of steel, but she has always liked going to the doctors. She even likes getting shots.

Actually, that was CG that said that about not being able to use that excuse again. The truth is, I think most of us have faked illness in order to avoid something going on in school at one time or another. She just blew it confessing so soon. I didn't confess some of the things I did until I was in my mid-twenties. Of course some of the things I will never confess.

OOPS..I'm sorry Barb! There are things I haven't confessed to my mom too. A couple years ago at a party at my mom's, my sister & I confessed some of the things we did. I was surprised at how many my parents already knew about. But I think my mom about had a heart attack when Faith confessed that when she was 8 or so, her & her friend used to crawl out the window on the 3rd floor & crawl around the little ledge there.
