A supportive school and teacher are so important! I am so happy to hear that you are blessed with both. My son had the same advantage in elementary school, he received accommodations with no written 504 plan in place, if he needed something, I simply asked and it was done. After hearing from parents with older ADHD children how difficult it sometimes is to get accommodations in middle/high school, I got the 504 written and in place before he transitioned into middle school. Thankfully, the middle school principal and MOST of the teachers have been wonderful, but having the 504 written out and on record has helped when the occasional hard headed teacher refuses to follow the plan.
Do not hesitate to return with any questions you may have, if we cannot answer them between us, many of us are great at researching to help find help...the ladies here have helped my son in so many ways I cannot begin to count them!

What we do is we have a mini trampoline and when she gets a word right I do a woo hoo and she gets to bounce and while studying she bounces and spells them out with me. I used to get out pom poms and we would dance around cheering the words and she loved it so get creative.

Jill, that reminds me of that movie, Akeelah and the bee, where she jumps rope to get a rhythm going while spelling.
