Anyone have any experience with it? Today Sean had a psych appointment and after I refused to accept the suggestion that he has "spring fever" and yes I am serious, I suggested upping his meds. Psych said the med he is currently on is very mild and we are going to wean him off that and start him on the Depakote tomorrow along with continuing the Abilify.

Thanks JJ. Going to read it now. I am going to have to go back through the old threads because I was just talking to Sean's mom and she says that she remembers him being on that a long time ago. She remembers sprinkling some medication on his applesauce before he could swallow pills. I remember that too but cannot remember what med it actually was.

Wow he did used to take Depakote in combination with Adderall. This was back when he went to the outpatient program and it was a different psych. Apparently it did nothing at that time. I am hoping that in combination with the Abilify it may do something positive. Geez, I must be losing it.

I think anything is worth trying right now. I do remember that Depakote seems to work more with Bipolar kids than ADDers. I say give it a try. Let us know how it goes. You guys are always in my thoughts.
Oh, the "Spring Fever" thing about put me over the edge!! What an idiot. Doesn't he realize that its always Spring at your house. What a lame answer!!!!

I meant to say something about that "Spring Fever" comment too. What a dumb thing to say. I had to chuckle, Bugs, at your comment about it being "Spring" everyday at KK's house. Don't we know that is the truth.
KK, don't feel bad you forgot he had tried Depakote. With all that you have been through... trying to get a firm DX, the changes in DX's, all the different meds, what you go through day in and day out.... it is no wonder it slipped your mind.
I hope this time around with the combo of Abilify, you will see a better results.

Absolutely no difference. He has to go get blood work done on Saturday to check the levels but at the current dosage I have seen no positive change at all.
He's been out of control actually. Lying, sneaking things to school, not listening, arguing, harassing myself and Andy to no end. So maybe he's even worse with the smaller dose of Trileptal.

I was thinking of you and Sean today, KK, and decided to check this thread to see if I missed anything and I did. I just wish it would have been good news I missed. But all hope isn't lost. From what I've read it may be a bit early to tell if it will work on Sean.
Interesting thing I didn't know about Depakote is that aspirin will prevent it from working properly. Who knew a little common aspirin would do that.
I'll keep checking this thread to see if there are any updates. Oh, I am praying this is the med that helps him.
