I am not sure if this needs to go here or where so I just thought this would be a good place to start, most of you know my son Adam has been diagnosed with just ADHD, and we put him on 30 mg of Vyvanse, well some one told me that his side affects could be a result of his meds. He has horrible nightmares, and we have taken away all of the games that is about killing, and guts and stuff so now he just watched good cartoons as well, he also picks at him self he looks like a crack head!!! but anyways i just wanna run this by all of you and see what you all think it could be!!!! I have told the dr about this and all he says is to not let him play games or watch tv, we take away that stuff and he still has nightmares, and none of his nightmares have anything to do with the games or movies. they are about bugs and other things. so we are trying to record his nightmares to show the dr, but some one said that it might be his meds so what do you all think?

Tig, I definately think it can be a side effect. There are many medications on the market that have this form of side effect. I know when Josh took Tenex he had the same problem...it was really strange. When we took him off, they stopped.
I don't know if the medication is doing it, but I think journaling when he has them is a great start. That way you'll have a better idea if its the meds, or maybe just a bad day, or whatever. Just keep track for you and your doctor and see if you can come up with something. I hope they stop for him...that's so hard to watch them suffer.

I agree with Bugsmom. If things are worse for him since he started the med, that could be the cause. Its certainly worth checking out.

Tig, I just want to let you know that before Sean was on medication (Abilify) he had frequent nightmares about bugs, snakes, and people dying. This is one symptom of childhood bipolar. The picking at himself is also another symptom. Sean does not do this but his sister, who also is diagnosed BP does all the time. It could be a medication side effect but maybe it would be worth talking to Adam's dr about. www.kristen-mcclure-therapist.com/Bipolardisorderchecklist.html
