Hi Casper123, Nice to have you here.
As far as the sugar, I'm with Bugsmom. In my opinion, sugar isn't what causes the "hyper" in adhd. With that said, kids do have way too much sugar so limiting it would be a good thing, in general, but I wouldn't take it out of his diet completely.
I know that most parents worry themselves sick when their kids are barely eating and are as skinny as can be, but they usually start to grow out of the pickyness and eventually put on weight. Not to say you shouldn't try to sneak nutrition into their foods whenever you can. For example, make a home-made chocolate milkshake and slip a little Pedisure into it, unless of course, he likes Pedisure, then no sneaking needed.
And just to do a little reassuring, I quit eating meat as a teen and later fish, then eggs and am still alive and kicking.
Enough of my babbling. Again, glad you joined out group. I look forward to getting to know you and more about your son.

Welcome to the group. I am a newbie too. I think my first question would be is he not eating because he is a picky eater or because he doesn't have an appetite. If he is on meds for ADHD it can cause them to not be hungry. What we use to do when my son was young was to make sure he got a big breakfast in the morning, a snack after school and a big dinner. We knew he wasn't going to eat lunch during the day because he wasn't hungry. This allowed us to make sure he got the nutrition he needed even though he was skipping lunch.
Now if he is just a picky eater then your looking at ways to be creative to get him to eat. In any case if you feel he is not gaining enough weight talk to his Dr. They put my son on Duocal which is powder you mix with foods (tasteless) that increases their calorie intake.
