We moved from a different location in January, 2007. This thread was transferred from there and has a different format than the ones which are created on this site.

HO HO HO. Maybe you all can help me. I have this one elf, Zippy. Hes ADHD hyper type. Hes a nice elf, but every time I send him to the toy shop to get something for me he forgets what he was supposed to do. Either he comes back with the wrong thing or he starts doing something else altogether! I can't medicate him because his parents have been dead for 200 years. What can I do to help him? He's getting discouraged & driving Mrs Claus & I nuts!

Well Santa you make your list you check it twice. It sounds like zippy needs his own list to keep him focused. That seems to help me. Then try to get zippy to remember the list, before he leaves the north pole and after he gets out of the sliegh I would remind him to look at it in the store and only buy what is on the LIST!! I am totally having problems with my husband wanting to buy me things I dont need. I have been very specific and he thinks it's not extravigant enough. Whats wrong with a new purse and a new mouse for my computer??? I'm simple, it's not about me it's about my kids, and loved ones. I understand he needs to go out and buy me something but why does he half to make it more difficult than it needs to be? and by the way Santa I have been very very good this year

Santa, maybe you could give Zippy a different job. Maybe he could excersize the reindeer or shovel snow, or something like that. That might give him an outlet for all his pent up energy & let him be more able to concentrate. It sounds like he has some inattentive issues. Crazyhouse's list idea is a good one. When my inattentive daughter has a multi-step errand to do, I write it out step by step on a dry erase board. Then she can just check it if she forgets what she was doing.

The advice given is good advice. I also have to give multi step instructions 1 at a time. I may have to try Misty's white board idea. Let us know how Zippy does with your newly given advice.
