You probably won't see me on here that early unless I have a sleepless night. I will be around though and watching for your posts. I'm glad she has an appointment with a psychiatrist. Write down all your concerns so her mom won't forget any of them or in case you see things that she doesn't. The more information the psych has, the easier it will be for him or her to figure it all out. Getting an accurate diagnosis is a process and usually takes a while. Its not uncommon to change the diagnosis or add to it over time so don't give up. I know a few people with aspergers and some of them seem to be polar opposites. The way you describe her reminds me very much of a boy who used to play with my son. That doesn't mean she has it. I have no way of knowing but I wouldn't discount it if the psych wants to look into it further with her. Something else you might want to look into is NVLD or Non Verbal Learning Disorder. Some of what you mentioned seems to fit in that category. There is a basic list of symptoms you can check to see if it sounds like her. www.med.umich.edu/1libr/yourchild/nld.htm

Welcome Lori! The first thing I thought of when I read your posts was Aspergers also, even before reading CG's reply. There are a few things which sound very similar to my stepson's behavior. Although he is much younger (7) he is extremely immature, I would say he acts like the typical 3 or 4 year old. He is also overly compliant. He is currently DX with ADHD and bipolar but Aspergers is suspected and we are going next week for a neuropsych evaluation which will hopefully give us an answer. When Aspergers was first suggested I thought "No Way" but the more I read and learned about it, the more I saw why it was suggested.
