Hi,
My name is Maria. I was given the go-ahead by a very interested and concerned moderator to post this request:
I am trying to get concerned parents to help answer some questions about what types of parent/patient educational materials on ADHD are really needed. I am trying to help develop ADHD awareness and educational materials so that parents can have resources to go to without doing endless hours or weeks of searching. So many times, when parents are looking for help, it takes so long to find it and sift through the clutter before we know what is actually accurate and useful.
Some types of questions that would be asked of you are: Are there any areas in particular that need to be addressed in more detail? Are there any areas that are not addressed at all that you would like to see information on? What is your biggest challenge in trying to find useful information? Etc.
Thank you so much for your help and interest in trying to get ADHD education information to parents in a more useful, user- friendly manner.
Please let me know your interest and thoughts to move forward.
Thanks and regards,
Maria

Here are the answers to the questions we asked of Maria. We DO feel that she is on the level & I have decided myself to participate. If you'd like to participate too, please feel free to PM her.
How much time is involved? It is estimated that about 4-6 hours would be needed for a small group "roundtable" discussion over the Web (not in person). It can be done from the comfort of the participants' own homes.
Who is giving the backing money? I am not sure of the company (I deliberately am unaware of who the company is to avoid personal skewed biases during my research.) But I do know that they usually pay in the neighborhood of $250 - $500, depending on time.
Are they going to need members to disclose their real names and personal info to participate? If so, how can you guarantee the information won't be accessible to anyone other than those who need to know for the study?
Participants need only use their first name and generic personal information. We need only the information that gives us insight into their thinking on ADHD and what information moms want to know so that we can better tailor materials to their needs.
I was informed that the company follows CASTRO (market research guidelines) that forbid the sharing of information and names/etc. That information can only be used if individuals sign a release (which we are not asking for or doing).

If any of you have any further questions, you can ask an admin here and we will tell you what she told us about it.
I can't post it as it does give some personal info and it would be difficult to edit out. We do have a copy though, so we can give you what she told us about the concerns.

Dear ADHD Forum Members,
Thank you to those of you who have offerred to participate in my research request. I do hope that more of you will want to join in. Please feel free to post your questions so that I may post my replies for everyone to read, so that you are all on the same page and have the same information. For anyone who might be considering participating but you are just not sure, please post (or PM) your concerns, and maybe I can help you decide what is best for you. I would love to have a few more participants by early next week. If we can get enough in a short period, then we can get started that much sooner and be that much closer to completing these helpful materials.
Your opinions do matter. What better sense can we think of then to ask real parents for their experience and needs to help us develop materials to answer your questions. And, do not think of this as only helping yourself. These materials will help others who have newly learned of their child's diagnosis of ADHD. Try to remember when you were first brought into this experience with your family. What was it that you wish you had to bring you answers, comfort, choices? If you can remember that and share it with the group, then we can help by addressing those needs for the next mom or dad.
Please let me know if you are able to participate. You will be compensated for your time. A large company is backing this. We all want to make it easier to navigate for information. Why not be a part of that?
Thank you, Maria

Dear Members,
I wanted to let all of you know that I am waiting for the next steps from my client. At this point, we are going along well, but we are hoping to get a few more participants (from this and other forums). We are planning to send you information next week after a meeting on Monday. I just wanted to let you know things are moving along...please hang on with me. We are also working on getting ADHD book gift certificates for participants (in addition to compensation as mentioned earlier).
Thank you, and please post or PM if you have any comments, questions, or if others want to join in.
Have a delightful weekend.
Regards,
Maria
