In going over the way Tiff tells me that she'll be going outside to play. Or I don't have to do this or that. And her just saying or doing to opposite of everything I say. I had enough and let the doctor know. She even said "what the fu**" to me the other day when I asked her to do something! Yes, it took all my inner strength not to smack her mouth.
In talkiing to her psychiatrist this week, this is what Tiff told her. She said that she is like the Statue of Liberty. She stands above everybody and is the boss of everyone. The dr clarified things by saying the Statue just stands in the harbor and greets visitors and ships to America. Then she asked her who is boss, and T said I am, I am the boss of everyone and I do what I want.
So as you can guess, someone is loosing a lot of privileges each day when she starts running her mouth.
Her dr still thinks a lot of this is beginning PMS. And it was just about a month ago since she was over the top again in her attitudes.

My son went through that about a year ago at age 11. Believe me, his was more a case of SBS or spoiled brat syndrome. He got over it for a while but every so often he needs another dose of the "no's". Good luck with Tiff. Hormones are not fun to deal with from a parent's side of the issue. Feel free to PM me if you need to vent.

Oh, I bet it IS the beginning of puberty/PMS, Uni! Shannon has her monthly "Grouchies" too & they started a good year before her 1st period. She gets rude, touchy & mouthy every month for a few days & then she turns back into my daughter. Vent here any time you need to. Enough of us have gone through it that you'll get a lot of commiseration & empathy!

When does it get easier again? She is too little for all these grown up changes. She is already growing in most "womanly" areas and now the period on the horizon. Ugh. Too bad she can't just be 8 longer without big girl things thrown into the mix.

I don't know, Uni. Shannon'll be 13 in a few weeks & its still not easy! She'll out-grow one problem, only to have a new one pop up.

Hugs to you Uni I know all about the disrespect. Only I DON'T think I can blame Sean's on PMS LOL. Why are kids these days developing so early? It's scary. I was a "late bloomer" but the age kids are hitting puberty is so so young. Joe brought home this quiz he took from health class and one of the questions is what age does puberty start and the answer was"as young as 8 or 9". WHAT?! Of course it's less obvious with a boy but he is definitely showing some signs....he was just a little baby last week!!! Vent away Uni that's what we are here for.

Well I guess I can say that tonight she is still a little girl. She is taking a bubble bath right now and playing with all of her old bath toys. Time away from becoming a big girl.
