What are you doing this summer to keep your child/children from saying "I'm bored?"

Oh, UNI, I wish I knew! Shannon is already bored from time to time this summer!
We are trying to keep her busy though. We have a pool & she'll happily swim all day IF she has someone over to swim with. we have a garden that constantly needs tended. We have 3 dogs to walk, 7 pet rats to play with & a cat to entertain.
My parents have taken her overnight, we've gone to some movies. We have a water park & an amusement park, both only about a 15 minute drive from us. We have a zoo trip planned with my sister next month.
Shannon & DH are going camping for a week at the end of this month where she'll go horse back riding, canoing, fishing & hiking.
Shannon also walks back & forth to a friends house & my cousins house.
Its a pretty laid-back summer. We don't schedule constant activities, but theres enough to choose from to keep her busy most days.

We are busy with summer school and camp right now. We are going to the ocean in August. There is a week in August that I am home and I let her schedule as many playdates as she can in a weeks worth of time. We have done a lot of day trips and ice skating lessons and walks. But from time to time she complains that she is bored. She has her websites that she visits everyday and I gave her a gameboy that she has played with constantly since her birthday. She can ride her bike or jump rope or any other outdoor game you can think of. But when she says that she is bored. How can she possibly be.
Just curious as to what people do when they hear that.

Well, when I hear it I tell her just what my mom used to say to me: "Oh you're bored? Then I have some (Insert vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, etc) that needs done so come here." She finds that shes not so bored after all!

So far my son has spent a week at his cousin's and his cousin has spent a week here. His father took him shopping today and we take him to the beach at a nearby lake fairly often. Oh yes, his father also has taken him to a friend's house so they can ride 4 wheelers and dirt bikes since they have several acres of land.
Hopefully my brother will spend a lot of time camping and he can join them for that. If its an outdoor activity, my son loves it.
I'm dreading the times when we have a few days of rain or impending rain so he is stuck in the house. One day and he will happily play games but more than that, unless he can find a friend who is also stuck at home to hang out with, he is going to drive us all nuts.

I was going through the same thing with my daughter last week and I decided to take her to do some window shopping in a cute little town not too far from us. We wound up in a toy and hobby shop and found a really cool puzzle. We sat down when we got home and put it together. Board games are also something fun to do when you have nothing planned, it's too hot or it's raining out. There are also activities at our local library that she is involved in. Usually libraries have summer programs for kids. We also go swimming and spent a nice day at the beach a few weeks ago. We are suppose to go away for a few days to VA but have put it off until we take Becca to the Orthopedics Specialist. Hoping to also take some more day trips to the beach.
