Oh Misty, I so get how your feeling. Josh does the money thing all the time. One minute he has it, then its gone. Its so hard to watch them struggle with these issues. I usually always end up finding the money somewhere, but he get so frustrated...believe me we've been through that one. As for the locker issue, I think getting a lock at home is a great idea. I know when Josh was assigned his first locker last year, he also had the same trouble. What I ended up doing was going up to school with him after all the kids left for the day and just practiced with him. It took a good half an hour for him to really get it, but he finally did. Maybe you could do that with Shannon, if she agrees. He felt better that everyone was gone for the day and he didn't feel like such a dork. This year, the locker isn't even a issue, he got it the first day. But boy, I was in your shoes last year. Hang in there...we all feel your pain!

Joseph never had a locker until this year either. The school sent home a letter a few weeks ago with their locker number and combination and the 6th graders were allowed to go into the school this week and try them out, which was a huge help. Only bad thing was he memorized the combination they sent him and then when we got there his locker was on the top row and he is not tall enough to see the numbers so they had to switch him to one on the bottom. We're short over here.

That way shannon could practice as long as she needs to with no added pressure of the other kids coming and going...and she would be practicing with the actual lock she needs to get experience with...

I remember the days and i used to have trouble with them as well and had to literally write down the locker number, combination and next to the numbers write down Right, Left, Right. See if that helps her.

We practiced on the lock we borrowed & she seems confident that she can do her locker now. She told me it was the turning this way & that, this many times & that many times that confused her & she says she gets it now. Keep your fingers crossed. Tomorrow will be the real test.

Well, Becca starts tomorrow. Fortunately for us Becca keeps the same lock all four years. I also have the combination at home and in my glove compartment in the car in case she forgets it. Crossing my fingers and praying everything will go smoothly tomorrow.

My son just left for school. Its his first day back. I kissed him and told him I loved him and he said "Mom, cut it out our you'll make me even more nervous". I always kiss and hug him before he leaves for school. He must be really nervous.

Well, yesterday Shannon managed to get into her locker!! On the other hand, she had trouble getting back into it later & got in trouble because she didn't have a book she needed for a class. I told her to keep practicing & soon it will be second nature.
