My child did not want to go to her babysitters and gave me a hard time and yes I listened to her she said she was not comfortable in her house. After exploring with her what the problem was and with my girl I had to use my work skills on her the bottom line she likes my friend but the decorations for halloween scare her and her house is decorated. To help the babysitter took some down and gave her some to take home to help. She is refusing to sign up for parties next month and wondering about halloween night. Yes this is pre-mature but is a concern. I may have to call her psychologist anyone else have these issues.

Wow! I wish I knew some advice to tell you, but my child was always the complete opposite. The creepier the better. She even hugged a very realistic looking "Frankenstein" the year she was 4,as we were trick or treating at night.
I hope you find some way to make Halloween less scary for her.

Could you help her create her own really scary decorations so she realizes what they are? I'm sure she knows in her head that they aren't real but if she can actually make some, it may help her understand they really can't hurt her.
I totally understand your daughter's fears. My mother used to make me watch the Wizard of Oz with the family and parts of it terrified me. I hated it and it was a family occassion for years when I was small so I couldn't get out of it.
If she really doesn't want to go to any halloween parties, many churches have harvest festivals during the halloween party season. Most of them don't allow evil or scary costumes or decorations. You could see if one of the churches in your area is having one. I am sure they would love to welcome her and a friend to theirs.

I can try helping her create decorations however I am not good at art. I am good at baking and cooking but decorating forget it.
My kid will not even go near a store that sells halloween stuff.

Jilly ~ This time of year I HATE going into drug stores 'cause they just OVERDO all that halloween stuff ! I don't want to look at all that weird creepy stuff but what choice do I have = your right, little to none. Don't tell DAWN ! I have no real answer for you. Barb mentioned school and what your going to do about it. You may just want to tell the teacher(s) something like this, ''My child [and/me] is not comfortable right now with [being forced to] participate[ing] in halloween activities. How can you help her & me with this''? Just an idea . . .

Hi Jill,
Glad to hear your daughter did okay making the ghosts. This may just be a phase she is going through. Sometimes they just get stuck on a fear or idea and with our help they can eventually work out of it. My daughter has gone through some odd fears and I just kind of slowly work her out of them and eventually they are forgotten. I find that I just have to be patient and time usually works out these fears.
