My girl stopped bed wetting 1 and a half ago and started back up again will it ever end for good? What I think is happening is she fights us going to bed and will stay up in her room until later then sleeps deeply and is not getting up like she used to. I know she is a deep sleeper by the fact that she is Difficult to wake in the mornings, I am talking I pick her up and wiggle her around and she is dead weight not even a flinch. The Pediatrician says to limit the fluids and keep a set schedule and we try and do limit the liquids. Any other ideas? What i have been doing is waking her at night to go and it is hit or miss and I am using the good nights again for the misses. I worry for she is into sleep overs now and has a few friends.

We dealt with this for quite a while with Sean. I tried everything-limiting drinks before bed, waking him up before I went to bed to use the bathroom, nothing worked and one day it just stopped and never happened again. I do know that there is a nasal spray that is supposed to help with bed-wetting,maybe you could ask your doctor about it.

Is she anxious about anything? Anxiety can cause that.
Also, is it possible she is afraid to get up and go into the bathroom at night? Kids go through stages where they are afraid of the dark, monsters, etc. I know you said the halloween decorations are scary for her so maybe they are increasing her fears.

Charliegirl you may have a point for this started after we had a big lightning storm a week and a half ago. She got up to go and came in my room to sleep for it was so loud and lit up the house bright. I also contribute it too sleeping to soundly. I purchased Good nights for her to wear so if I miss getting her to the bathroom on time the sheets do not need changing. Thanks any imput is helpful. I did talk to the doctor and all they said was the limiting drinks and keep her on a set schedule. the schedule thing is tough for she fights us every night at bedtime even starting early we end up later than intended.

I feel for you on this ... My son (who is now 19) wet the bed until he was 13 .... ok it had got less by age 13... but it still happened... I kept "waterproof mattress protectors" on his bed until he was 15 .. when I felt safe enough to remove them ....
We had a enuresis nurse throughout his earlier years who would visit at home to try to help him stop this ... but to be honest nothing she did helped ... it was time and "growing up" that did it in the end ...
One trick we were told which I think DID help a little was that after they have had their "wee before bed" ... send them back for "another one" within about 5 minutes ... They won't do much on the second one .. but it apparently gets rid of that last little bit which didn't come out on the first one and that "last little bit" can cause problems during the night!! ... (Am I making sense?) ... We DID admittedly find this helped Sam when he did this !!

Jill, my husband wet the bed until hewas12. He told me his Dr told his mom that it was because his bladder wasn't maturing as fast as the rest of him. Whatever the reason, just be careful to cause her the least bit of embarrassment over it as possible.....eventually she'll out grow it.

I make no big deal out of it and told her it happens to many children.
