Annette has an IEP in fact her annual meeting is Tuesday this week and she is in an integrated classroom. I think this bozo is going to deny us anyways but I am a fighter and if in the end it still does not happen at least I tried.

Its rare for anyone to get accepted the first time they apply. Keep trying if you really believe she is bad enough to need it.

Thanks and we did get a statement yesterday basically what we talked about over the phone but no yes or no at this point. If she did qualify chances are due to us both working we would get nothing.

I got the denial letter yesterday due to income and other. I am now debating what my next move will be if it is worth it. I can understand income but I want it on record she has the disability for when she may need it down the road. I have 60 days to appeal so I may call for free legal advisement, mind you we are not rich and ADHD does cost.

Did they say what the other was? You don't have to tell us but I can't imagine "other" being a good reason without it being explained. Weird!
Good luck with the attorney. I hope he can help you.

I was hit with a blow when my son's previous school suggested Social Security. I did not want to label him unnecessarily. The fact is that I was having a nervous breakdown from all the stress of his constant poor behavior and failures. We are below poverty level. I don't think I could have afforded any type of help without the money. I had to come to terms with that. I am now able to pay for some necessary help and give him a piece of life he deserves. I purchased some memberships to various museums and we now are active in patronizing them. This family activity has helped me calm down and enjoy him more. He is happier also in that we can have some together time outside the home, something that was not possible on my income alone. This is my experience with the benefits.

I'm glad you got it for him Carol and I'm glad you found a way to do something as interesting as going to museums with him. Thats such a cool thing to do together and can open the door to so much that he wouldn't be exposed to otherwise. Has he found any interests from your trips to follow up on?

What is sad is we make too much money for it however we are behind on bills and have financial trouble. I scrape the money for my child for her therapies and dance she loves I love her so.

I know jill, I hate when they deny you and they tell you that you make too much money, but YOU know that you cannot afford to pay for the meds.....and the bills, one has to slip and that is not fair.
