Shannon has this cartoon wrestlers hoodie that shows their cartoon butts on the back. She wore it once before & her Learning support teacher told her it was cartoon nudity & not to wear it again. Well, she didn't....until today. She insisted on wearing it because other kids wear the same shirt & no one says anything to them. I told her that I don't like it myself, but that the rule should be the same for everyone.
well, what do you know, the principal saw her in it & asked her to come into the office to talk to her. What happened next shocked the principal & is what she actually called about. She said she asked Shannon to come into the office & right away Shannon got cocky & pointed at her & said "I'm NOT taking this sweatshirt off & if you don't like it you can just call my mom!"
ARGH!
The principal said Shannon's attitude is what made her call me. Shannon has NEVER been anything but polite to the teachers & principal. Shes never been a behavior problem.
She put Shannon on the phone with me & I told her that she should've handled herself better & not spoken to the principal in that tone & she admitted I was right. I told her she better apologize profusely & do whatever the principal decides as punishment & not put up a fuss.

I have a feeling she won't do anything like that again since normally she is polite. Sounds like she immediately regretted what she did since she so readily agreed with you.
BTW: Have you actuallly seen other kids with those shirts on because I've fallen for the "well, everyone else is doing it, wearing it". And just because they wore it doesn't mean they weren't told to not wear it again.
If you have seen them wear them time and time again then I'd be saying something to someone about it because it isn't fair.
I bet you don't have anything to worry about. She tested the waters a bit and probably got in trouble for it. Hopefully that is the end of the story but then again, she is 13. Urgh....

No, you're right...I haven't actually "seen" the other kids wear them. I was just taking her word for it.
She did tell me that she apologized to the principal & that she won't be wearing the hoodie again.
I have a feeling these teen years are gonna do a number on me!

Ahhhh the good old phone calls! I remember them well! I used to stand in front of the phone looking at my caller ID....deciding whether to answer it or not I don't think your dd will try it again either....she was testing and she did feel bad about it. I am sure there will be more to come too...she is a teen just keep 2 steps ahead of her!

Oh, Linda,....Too funny, I can envision you standing there trying to decide whether to answer it! i never gave it a 2nd thought because The only reason I had ever been called before was when Shannon was sick & wanted to come home.

I think making her apologize to the principal was the right thing to do.

Linda, LOL! My mother used to say that when the high school had a pep rally, she would take the phone off the hook because the principal was always calling to tell her that he had caught my brother doing something other than cheering! Hang in there, Misty! School is almost over!!!

Oh Misty,
I so know how you feel. Becca for the most part keeps her mouth shut in school, but remember the time she mouthed off in the office and the Principal was standing there? I think I told you all about that one. I was so embarrassed and so was Becca. I think she learned a huge lesson there. These are the tough years for sure and you are definitely not alone. Thank goodness for summer!
