Very tired from all the worry and lack of sleep. Unfortunately, the first day of school did not go well at all for Becca. We have worked with the school to make things better this year but my daughter was so traumatized from the previous year that she didn't even make it through the first day. No one even bothered her. What set her off was when she saw that there were a few girls that are in the clique of people that picked on her last year in one of her classes. We are working on getting that class changed and I hope that will help. She was just so terrified of a repeat of last year that after the class she went to Guidance and wound up having a melt down. I had to leave work and go and pick her up from the school. She's been crying and depressed and says everyone hates her and she wants to quit school. I am praying she will make it through the day today. No calls yet so I am crossing my fingers. It's just so sad. We are trying to figure out what to do.

Losty, I just saw this. I'm so sorry Becca's off to a bad start. I don't know how you feel about homeschooling, but there are some excellent Cyber schools. They'll even give you the computer & internet services if needed. The one in PA is considered public schooling & is completely free, even for the books. Just a thought....its better than having her bullied every day. Hopefully the class change will go through & she'll make a few friends & things will get better for her.

Thanks so much for your thoughts everyone,
Becca did better on Friday and I think we finally got things straightened out with the class. They are unable to switch it but I personally spoke to the teacher on the phone about the whole situation. The Guidance Counselor never told her anything. I guess they are not suppose to without my permission. The teacher seemed very nice and told me she'd watch out for trouble and that it wouldn't be tolerated in her class. Becca knows she has support all the way around from Guidance, us and the teachers and I hope once she gets over her anxiety she will enjoy the Year Book class. She also has one of her best friends in the class and I think that will really help. We are having a meeting with all of her teachers on Thursday about everything including the 504 plan. As for the option of homeschooling, it would never work as Becca would never listen to me and would get lazy and not follow up with anything. Becca needs the kind of structure the school environment has. We also need my income to make ends meet. I am hoping today goes well for Becca. She didn't seem stressed this morning and she went off with no crying or anxiety. Praying it goes well today.
