Do you think it is a typical trait or symptom for an adult adhd'er to overreact to something trivial and be so whacked out by it that they cannot even focus on resolving the issue that would take like 15 minutes instead of freaking out for 4 or more hours?
I have become so organized at work these last 9 months that it is so good, I have color coded my filing system with colored files and cross referenced some with colored dots, I organized my electronic corporate files, I rearranged my office so I can be in my chair and slide over to the files and around in no time, I got an 8 x 11 whiteboard and write my monthly goals and projects on there, I have a huge calendar that is color coded, etc.........
Anyway - someone removed (borrowed) one of my files without telling me the other day and then I needed the file and IT WAS NOT THERE - it threw me so off it just ruined my day and system for a long time!!! Instead of trying to figure out first if someone had got it, I started tearing my office apart and pacing and trying to strain my brain to find it - well I found it, one of the dispatchers had it on their desk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That messed me up and I am still ticked about it.

Yep! You have found a way to organize your office life in a way that you can control without your ADHD getting in the way. You have your routine down and a place for everything so you can easily maintain it.
You don't have to worry about being distracted when you can grab things because they are always there. When they aren't, your focus is forced to move from what you are doing to something else. Suddenly, you are out of your comfort zone where you have control of your environment. It throws everything off.
Think about it. Most of our kids do better when they have a schedule and are prepared. Thats why we tell them they have 15 mins, 10 mins, etc. Thats why we try our best to prepare them in advance for anything that would be different from their normal routine. They lose it if there is too much disruption from what they are used to, especially if they don't know its coming.

I don't know about anyone else but if someone takes something that I know I left or am almost positive I left in a certain spot and I spend a heck of a lot of time looking for it I'm going to be madder than a hornet they didn't bother to tell me they took it. Because I wasted a lot of time, because I blamed my own stupidity and was mad at myself for misplacing it - or so I thougth. To me that is infuriating.
Thats why I get VERY IRRITATED when someone is in the kitchen with me. Because I have my routines and if someone is yakking at me I will indeed burn what ever I'm cooking or forget to put the cheese on the pizza, etc. (Like happened the other day)I turn into a total disaster.
I know at Thanksgiving I got so flustered in the kitchen when I was trying to cook I had to ask everyone to get out!! LOL...I said it nicely of course.
And it takes me a while to get over it so from my standpoint you are pretty much like me. Not sure if that is normal for a ADDer or normal for anybody.

I think its just normal for anybody. If something is missing from where I put it & I need to use it, I will tear the house apart until I find it & I will be unable to stop looking until I've exhausted every avenue. I call them "search & destroy missions" and Shannon delights in helping me! If I later find out that my hubby used the item & just didn't put it back, I get very mad! He could have saved me all that worry if he had just told me!

I definately can understand. The dwelling part is the hardest. You might want to ask your co- workers if they need to go into your system to get out information that they leave you a sticky note on your computer Hey LCDC I have the Smith file thanks John Doe. If they feel it would be wasting time to make out that 3 second sticky, just politely explain I don't want to waste time second guessing myself on where I put it and making more problems to correct (AKA the office of chaos you had to put back away) and one more thing could you stop by my house for about a week! I could really use some of your orginization skills to rub off on my husband and child!LOL!
