I got a call from the physc that Ran saw over a few weeks ago and she said that her Dx for Ran is ADD innattentive with LD that was already identified! I have mixed emotions about this, it is no great surprise I know, but I was hoping maybe it was nothing. Sooooo, I asked the physc what to do now, she said she recommended that I take Ran to see a child physciatrist and someone that knows about meds and prescribes them a lot to talk about options there. She said any testing beyond this should be done by the school if they suspect any other LD's. So I will wait for the report and think about what to do. She also said I should talk to Ran about visiting with a therapist or someone about organization skills, that is if Ran is willing to do it.
So that is the news right now! So what does this mean lillian and others that have a kid with both ADHD and an LD? What do I tell the school? She is already on an IEP and stuff for the LD. I am kinda of lost again right now and trying to figure this out.

Shannon is ADD inattentive with a math LD. I'm not sure what you should tell the school, since the school is the one who found my daughters LD. I guess I'd tell them everything & see what they say. Shannon is on an IEP for the LD too, but since they know she is inattentive ADD they also help her with organizational issues. If you take ran for therapy regarding the organization issues, it ill be helpful if the school can help reinforce what she is learning from the therapist. Shannon went to therapy for a year & I signed papers to let the school talk to the therapist & vice versa....it really helped to have everyone on the same page.

The diagnosis was what you expected so it has to be a relief that there isn't more than that. I'm glad for you and Ran both that there were no surprises even though I know you were hoping she didn't have ADHD.
I know that you can and will do whatever is necessary to help her now. She is very blessed to have a mother who has been there and knows how important it is to address things now and not wait until it gets so bad you can't ignore it.

yeah I will make a plan when the written report comes in and then I will see if the stuff they already added to the IEP covers ADD innattentive ideas or not - ummmm where do I find the stuff that works for that?
Then if that works, problem solved - if not, then I can ask the school to look further into additional LD testing if needed.
I just have to figure out how to get Ran on board and motivated to accept this and to accept talking to a shrink at least one time with an open mind so that she can hear all the ideas and alternatives and make a choice in her life on things she can do and embrace to make her life easier in the long run!
Lillian, give me some ideas please! Sorry, but I rely on you all as my sounding board here. I want to do the right thing and I want Ran to know her choices, cause I cannot help her all the time!

I hope things go well for you, sorry this is the only thing I have to add. that is enough, thanks. I have the report in the car and it is wierd I am not going to read it tonight, too much on my mind already, so it will sit there for a day or 2 before I look at it, so I will tell you this weekend what it says!
