Sean makes weird noises all day. He will make the same noise over and over and over until you want to scream. He will say some nonsense word or just some sound a million times, louder and louder. He was literally screaming every night in the shower but it wasnt a word or an actual scream-just some noise he kept making over and over again. My husband told him that had to stop because it was getting ridiculous and no one wanted to listen to that for 20 minutes every night.

I can sympathize. My son made fire siren sounds almost constantly for a year. After that he made this fake whistle with his throat over and over again for a year at least. I thought I would go insane.
I doubt that its the same cause as it is with Sean but I certainly can empathize with the fact that it will drive you insane.

Well, she was good tonight. my dad is buying me a new computer tomorrow & this one will go in her room. I told her to keep the loudness to a minimum tonight or the computer won't be in there. LOL....blackmail, I know but it was worth an evening of peace!

KK...I can sympathize with you too. When Josh was much younger he did this too. There were days I thought I'd go insane. We don't have too much of a problem with it now, but he is ALWAYS just too LOUD! He talks like he's got ear plugs in his ears. It drives me nuts. He never just talks at a normal level...its always looooooooud. Ever since kindergarten his teachers have all said this. I thought he might have a hearing problem, but no. He's been checked and he has dog ears.
Instead of yelling at Josh constantly about this, I just plug in my ipod and relax. Hearing something I want to hear is an excape. My heart goes out to you.

hI, i'm new to this but not to adhd. my 12 yo son was diagnosed at 6. he was on meds. for a few years and is now off. he will make weird and inappropriate noises of the most embarrassing of times to us. he won't do it around his peers though. i've asked him about it a few times. his main reason is that he has become board and it entertains him. other times i think he is have fun aggravating me. he has on a couple of times said the most rude of comments in front of strangers. he knows that it isn't appropriate but i think he is trying to entertain himself. lately when i get after him for doing something he hisses at me like an angry cat.

Hi Betty & Welcome! I'll tell you, don't look forward to him outgrowing it anytime soon. Mine is 14 & still making aggravating noises. I agree with you that she seems to do it just to aggravate us sometimes. Other times when I call her attention to it, it's almost as though she didn't even realize she was doing it.
