DS told me the other day he doesn't like his teacher. It turns out that she yells at him regularly and he cries in front of the other students, and she is not even sympathetic to upsetting him! This is after having a fantastic teacher for the last two years who did a great handover to the new teacher (I was there, she really did a good job handing over Alex). We are 1/4 of the way through the school year. Fortunately, his old teacher is his writing tutor now, so we can speak to her about this, she also corresponds with his current teacher to find out what areas he is working on. Does anyone have some resources I can give the teacher to read over the school holidays (2 weeks, starts Friday)... about *not yelling* at ADHD / ASD kids? (DS also has PDD-NOS) And yes, we need to set up an ILP (Like an IEP, but different acronym in Australia). His previous teacher had him hand, but now I'm not so sure. FYI, he's in Grade 4, and is 9yo.

I just wanted to let you know I have read this but I don't know of any places offhand where you can get the info.
If your ILP is just like our IEP you should be able to have it put in the ILP that his teachers have to be supportive and use positive reinforcement with no yelling or negative criticism allowed. Go for the ILP as quickly as you can get it.
