I just got a phone call from Joshua's Algebra teacher. He noticed that Josh has really been struggling with his homework and did not do well on his first math test. He just wanted to call and let me know that he was aware of his struggles and that he would be available everyday after school to tutor Josh if we wanted. He said he already had a couple of kids that needed the help and he would be happy to see Josh too.
I couldn't believe it! I'm so impressed that only after 3 weeks of school he could see my childs needs and was willing to go above and beyond to make sure this kid gets it right. I'm so glad we went with this charter school. I just know that if Josh was sitting in our local public school there would have never been such a phone call. We talked for a few minutes and he decided to move Josh's seat to the front and make sure he was getting all his notes done. I'm so thrilled this teacher is willing to go the extra mile for my son.
I'll let you know how it goes. Just wanted to share. I believe this teacher should get a gold star! lol.

That is awesome! Your post just cheered me up and I didn't even know I needed cheering up. How are things now for Josh? Is he o.k. with this school?

JJ, he's so happy. I never thought he would transsion so well. I said that to my BF the other night on the phone and she's like, "What's the surprise? You did what he needed, when he needed it, and now he's ready." I never thought of it that way. I always questioned if the homeschooling was a good thing, but I know it was because he needed that time at home to love learning again. Now he's matured, he's built up some self-esteem, and he's ready to fly.
He's made a nice group of friends, and he's pretty much keeping up with all the work. He does get a little over-welmed with the work load, but I think he'll get used to it over time. He's learning some great organizational skills, which all freshmen have to take, so they can succed throughout high school. I'm just really pleased with the school. It's a haul for me to drive everyday, but I'm getting used to it. It's worth it when he's still smiling when I pick him up at the end of the day...lol.

Bugs, I'm so happy for him and I'm so happy for you too. You DID do the right thing by homeschooling him when he needed it and you knew when it was time to turn the reins over to someone else. I'm sure a huge weight if off your shoulders now.
