Well , as much as I dreaded this. I now have a concrete official diagnosis for my 2 boys. I took them to a highly recommended developmental pediatrician, Dr Rubin. All in all the appt was about 6 hrs long, very thorough to say the least. The conclusion was that Draven (3 yr old) dx of autism and Brandon (8yrold) dx of Pervasive Developmental Disorder and he commented that he does have a learning disability. The dr told me to take them to the autism clinic ASAP for further evaluation, they were seen intially at the dev clinic for dx. I have already had ST, OT evals for Draven and OT eval for Brandon. I am looking for ABA therapy providers, in home would be best, a long shot considering there isnt services out here where i live. I appealed my SSI claim for Brandon with the new information. Does medicaid cover ABA therapy? Does anyone know anything about other therapies like music therapy, hippotherapy, etc

I'm glad you got the diagnosis' for them. Its a big step in the right direction.
I don't have any of the answers but I did want to let you know I'm glad you have started getting to the point where you can know what help you will need for them.

I am glad to hear that you got a DX, it's a start. I know that the school district I used to work for provided in-home ABA therapy for students, it did not cost the parents anything. I am sorry I don't know more.

I'm glad you finally have answers and now you can move forward. I think you can get a Medicaid waiver even if your income exceeds the government guidelines. But this may vary state to state.
Afraid I can't help you on any of the other therapies.

Please try to remember that these are the same awesome children they were before you got the official word. They have the same strengths the same intellect the same creativity. You have been given one more piece in the wonderful jigsaw puzzles that are your sons. The more pieces we have the better we can understand our kids and ourselves. peace, marge www.net-haven.net
