We have been struggling to find the right adhd med for my daughter since she was 4 and every single med we try works ok at first and then totally down hill after the first month. She has been on daytrana the patch for about 2 mos now and all the sudden I think she's depressed. And I think it's only at home, when I pick her up from school she seems fine and talking about how she got all her work done and the teacher is proud and is finally starting to trust her, the we get home she doesn't talk, stays to herself, lays around, doesn't want to play with anyone, doesn't go outside with us and this is not her at all. She's ADHD with the extreme hyper. Monday night she laid on the couch and fell asleep which is very odd for her and I found myself worrying about her and checking if she was still breathing, this scares me that I would even have to have this worry. She is starting to grow taller and not gaining or losing weight but looking very thin and is wearing smaller clothes than she had been. and when someone says anything to her about it she says it's because she doesn't eat and she does eat not like she used to but she does eat I make sure of it and I get worried because of her comment and wonder if she is developing an eating disorder. She's only 8yrs old, I am lost and worried and don't know what to do, I have made her an appt next week.
P.S. this leads to the question I asked on ADHD board.

Oh, Sweet, I know! We've just done a med change on my son, which is our sixth change!!! The last one worked for a year-and-a-half, though. With Daytrana, you can take the patch off, and the effects of the med should wear off within an hour or so. Have you tried removing the patch right after school, so the med will wear off, and she will be hungry for dinner and more energetic in the evening?

I really wanted to give you some advice, but could not think of anything constructive. The idea of removing the patch earlier did spring to mind though....
Just know that I am keeping you and your daughter in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope that you get a solution soon!

We always remove the patch when she walks through the door at 3:00, And she eats just not like she used to....I don't know I can't help but wonder what am I doing wrong....why isn't she happy at home or does she act depressed at school. I make sure that each and everyone of my children hear me tell them I love them at least 5 times an evening and always tell them the second I see them that I missed them and I hug them constantly and tell them how lucky I am to have such a wonderful healthy beautiful child. Everyone assures me I am a good mom and that I have some really happy children that you can tell they have a happy healthy stable home. But I just don't feel like it when I look into her eyes, I have to tell her look at me....I love you with all my heart and I don't know whats wrong and you won't tell me it breaks my heart.
