Here's the link to the FDA website www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01568.htmlStrattera is on that list!! That is the one "non-stimulant" available for the young ones. I am shocked. I've had that one in the back of my mind as a possibility since I'm dealing with congenital heart disease. Let me pick my jaw up off the desk....

I assumed they did too. I'm glad they have to now.

I've always been leery of Strattera after I found out that it used to be marketed as an anti depressant for adults (under another name) and was taken off the market because it was leading people to suicide! Of course my daughter was taking it before I found that out & I had taken her off of it due to the terrible side effects she continued to suffer from & developed. One of the side effect Shannon had suffered from was depression--it seemed to suck all the joy out of her!

I just read this and was coming on this sight to post I had seen it but I of course was a little short. The FDA announced that they are putting stronger warnings on these medications that include possibility of heart attack or even stroke. Also the posibility of voices and suicide in people who suffer from depression and other mental health illnesses. The annoucemnet states that they have reached the proper labeling for all these drugs and that they will now be listed on the medication. It has been in litigation for 2 years now. That's what I got out of the news blurb.

I wonder if there is a list on the Web of all ADHD meds. Has anyone seen one? I'd like to compare it against this FDA list.
I discovered that when you open the new label for each one med, the label could be for cardio and/or psychiatric, but not necessarily both. For Strattera they only show the psychiatric warning, but it's a pretty serious label. I really don't care for the emotional lability side effect.

notellin I just put Jake on Strattera recently and the Psych was very forward and detailed about describing the suicidal warning label they put on the medication. She said the voices and suicidal behavior was a warning for people that suffered from depression, had a bi polar disorder, or other mental disorder. Jake does not have these problems so we are keeping an eye out for suspicious mental behavior but so far so good! I don't know of anywhere you can compare.
