We're so glad that you've found us and are looking forward to getting to know you and your son.
As for your question about growth...my son starting taking meds for ADHD when he was 7. He is now 12 and he is 5ft 2inch and weighs 120 pounds. So, no, we haven't had any problems with growth. In fact, he is still the tallest boy in his class. But I do remember worrying ALOT about this subject when he was first dxed. I too, worried he would not grow.
Now, the weight issue is a different story. When my son took stimulants, he didn't lose weight, but his appetite was surpressed. He wouldn't eat much during the day, but as soon as his meds wore off, he ate like he never ate before! So, it actually pretty much evened out. Usually, this type of side effect wares off after they've been on meds awhile. My son doesn't take stims anymore, he's on Strattera, and it doesn't effect his eating at all.
