Shire is coming out with a new ADHD med at the end of June (2007). Its called Vyvanse. It outperforms Adderall in the tests they've done and has few and temporary side effects. Its designed to last up to 12 hours and is currently approved by the FDA for use for 6 to 12 year olds. Research for use by other age groups is currently being performed. This is a pro-med, which means it is absorbed by the gut lining rather than the liver. Since it only works by being absorbed in the gut, it is not attractive to drug abusers. Studies showed that people who use those types of drugs cannot get the fast, intense high they prefer and consider it as effective as a placebo. You can read more about it at www.vyvanse.com.

It did sound very interesting. Will be curious to see what Tiff's doc's have heard about it and what they think about her trying it.

Thanks Misty. I thought I had but I wasn't sure. It sounds like a great med for kids who need help getting through the entire day. So many seem to stop around the time school lets out and it means either adding more short acting meds or not having the control and focus that can make the difference in homework and chosen activities.
