Hopelessly Lost

I have a husband that was diagnosed with ADHD as a child 4 years of age!! He now seems to only have AADD. I think I was undiagnosed as a child and between the two of us we can't stay organised! Half the time our house looks like a tornado blew thru it between the kids. I've tried asking everyone to do little chores, but for every little chore someone does there is 3 times the mess!!!!! :(I need some good suggestions. I am going to take that test shortly. Happy Thoughts

I'm in the same boat. I have ADHD, my son has ADHD and my hubby has undiagnosed issues. I'm not sure what they are but things pile up. I try to have a place for everything and everything in its place but no one will put things back or throw anything away. They get mad when I toss stuff but I have reached the point when I toss it anyway. If they won't take care of it, they don't need it.
One thing I have found that helps is to keep what we have to a minimum. If it isn't seasonal or something we use on a regular basis, I don't want it around. I still have stuff they refuse to part with but it helps to keep things that clutter to a minimum.
I know this sounds terrible because it doesn't deal with the mess itself, but if you can find a space that you can keep neat and clean, you can go relax in it when the mess is too much for you. After spending time in my nice clean little nook, I feel recharged enough to try to deal with the rest of the house. I have a corner of my bed room that has a nice reading chair, lamp and stand that I go to to get away from it all. I keep that room clean and try to keep the kitchen clean. After that, I do what I can.

I have a huge wicker basket that I keep in the corner of the dining room. As clutter piles up, I throw it in the basket. I sort through it once a week & put things away or throw them away. If its someone else's, I figure if they haven't looked for it in a whole week, then they don't need it! The basket helps keep the clutter contained so the rest of the downstairs doesn't seem as messy.
Upstairs, its mostly just Shannon's room thats a pigsty. I deal with that by keeping her door closed. I have her clean it every weekend & then I go in & help her vacuum & dust.

Great idea Misty! Anyone know where I can buy a dump truck sized basket?

Sometimes I can keep everything so neat and organized and other times. Tiff leaves a trail of things behind her.
I have a woman that I work with that has a slight variation of how to get rid of clutter. She will not touch things until the end of the night. If someone has left something behind it is gone by the morning. They know to clean up after themselves and that she isn't the maid. She has thrown away winter coats before, because they were not put away by the time she went to bed. It makes them (even her husband) learn to put stuff away.
