yeah, Jill sometimes we don't even realize the level of temper we are at until it is too late. It is frustrating for us, well at least me to be that way and to have to admit it is an issue. Strange, but your hubby sounds like the kind of guy that is willing to work on stuff since he participates with your daughter, that is hopeful at least that maybe he would be willing to work on his own issues. Unfortunately sometimes for us ADHD adults, it takes a wake up call to get our attention to work on issues. Hopefully these wake up calls don't take a big toll and we are able to clean our messes up and improve in our communication style and self control.

I personally think part of my issue is not having a correct read on some stuff for so long, it is like a defense mechanism and it is not being able to get my mind to explain how I feel or put it in words so it comes out in Anger sometimes! LCDC ~ You are so on the right track. It is a 'defense mechanism' that we use over & over & over and don't even realize it. It was necessary at some point in our life (most likely) but has out lived it's usefulness. We end up frustrating not only ourselves but those around us. Whoa . . . I just had this brainflash = 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man(grownup), I put childish ways behind me. I thought like a child because thats all I knew, but I'm still thinking like that with this 'automatic self talk' that has been my defense mechanism for WAY to long. EUREKA !

yeah Jill, tools is the way to look at it, even if we do not think of it as a help thing, it is another way to get some tools to interact with others!
John, you had a revelation! Wish I could have more of those! Another revelation for you is that once you understand that and get tools, you need to practice using them. They don't do a lot of good sitting on the shelf or locked in a tool chest!
