My husband wants to cut his Mt. Dew consumption but all ready drinks a 2 litter of water a day! (and a 2 litter of dew) He says that he wants to drink somethinkg else that won't add a lot of calories or has artificial sweeteners!
I suggested Iced tea but the convenence bottles or full of sugar! Which adds empty calories!
Any suggestions?
He wants to drop a few lbs and this is the only area he is willing to change! He eats well! I make a healthy lunch every day! Fast food only on occasion! I cook a very healthy dinner every night! Ok almost every night! He is about 5' 11 " 240lbs. He is pretty built but the Dr. wants him to lose some to help out his cholesterol! He is not willing to take meds! It is only slightly high! He wants to drop some weight and see if that helps! He has a very phisical job and not much time at all to excerise! He'd rather spend that time with us! Which is not much! one day off a week! We are trying to go for walks now that it is nice though!

How about making your own iced tea? I make iced tea in the summer for my husband & then he can control how much lemon or sugar he wants in it. I agree the bottled stuff is VERY high in sugar! Theres also those sparkling waters or flavored waters you can buy if he wants flavor without the caffeine & sugar.

Yes I was going to suggest the flavored waters....they are calorie free, or very low cal.
Meli, I can't believe that there is another man out there that drinks Mt. Dew like my hubby! Jon carries around a 2 liter bottle all day long. Has yours tried the diet version? My husband totally quit pop for about a month years ago and dropped 10 pounds! Then they came out with the diet dew and he started drinking that one. I think the key was no pop for that month, and after that the diet doesn't taste so different?

The problem with the diet drinks and flavored waters is the artifical sweetners! He can't stand them and dose not want to drink them!
His job is physcial so he gets very thirsty! He delivers furniture all day! 12 hours or more some days!
Diet well, he is trying to cut portions size at dinner! He dose eat very healty!
He keeps complaining that Mt. Dew is his only guilty pleasure! LOL I say thats why they call it the surup of satin! LOL

Well I fully understand where he is coming from, it is my only guilty pleasure, too, but I only drink 1 12 ounce can a day...
My daughter drinks her iced tea totally w/o sugar...I can't do that but maybe he could teach himself to drink it with very little sugar. You could make it up for him and fill an old 2 liter Mt. Dew bottle for him to carry around so he won't miss it so much... ;D

Well, I know my BIL, a brick layer, works very hard and takes iced coffee along with tons of water. (He is a coffee nut like me) Really not a good choice for hydration but it may give him the buzz he gets from his mountain dew. Just a thought.

Thanks guys! I think I am going to look at the Trader Joes store today to see if they have anything there! They have a natural food brand of there own! With no artificals ingredients.
If not than I will try to make him tea my self and add only a little bit of sugar! He said he is willing to try it! He sitll wants some mt.dew so filling his old bottles will be a good idea! LOL he can pretend its really in there! LOL
The sun tea thing sounds like fun! I want to try that too!
What about adding a flavor surup that they use with alchol (sp sorry) Like That red stuff they put in drinks! dose that have lots of sugar?
