Ever sit down at the computer with a family-size bag of chips, only to find it nearly empty by the time you log off? There's a scientific reason for it. Normally, if you eat the same food for a period of time, your palette gets "tired." You feel full sooner and don't want as much. This is known as sensory-specific satiety. Something I learned is that when I do snack at the computer, I put only a serving of the food I want where I can reach it. If I decide I want more, I have to go into the kitchen to get it. I am usually distracted by what I am doing and forget to go after it.
If I have the entire bag of chips or microwave popcorn next to me, I do eat it without thinking about it.

I tend to snack a lot at work. Even if I am not hungry, I still continue to eat. It is something that I am working really hard to change.

I do the same thing CG. I put a bowl of cheeto's by my computer and like you said. I usually get distracted and don't care when the bowl is empty. But not always. I may go down for one more bowl once in a blue moon. I'm addicted to cheeto's by the way.
Uni, I thought for sure when I clicked that button I'd be taken to some funny picture of some overweigh lady. LOL Don't know why I thought that but I did.
