As you have guessed I like to draw and I like to look at other peoples art! Well I have this philosiphy about art and it is strange.
I had a kid of one of my employees in my office the other day and she comes into there before school sometimes cause I have a conference table in there and she will draw or read or chat. Well, she asked me who drew a picture on my locker and I told her trish did it. It is a picture of me on a fire when I was away and trish was missing me, so it is very expressive and the fire looks ominous, but I am larger than it putting it out.
So this kid is like I wish I knew how to draw and I said you do, everyone knows how to draw. So I asked her if she wanted a pencil and paper to draw and she asked what to draw.
I said oh draw a monster. She said I cannot, anyway she did and then she said her drawings are always bad! we talked about who said that to her and all and I told her no one can say a drawing is bad if it comes from you and what you are thinking about!
Sooo, guess what her picture was, it was a monster person with hair standing way up and she said it was me! I cracked up and put it on my locker so now she brings me pictures she draws all the time. I don't know what to think about me looking like a monster and all, but whatever?
That is why I don't think I could ever take a formal art class, it would be strange to be judged on my drawings, I thought about taking one to learn about the different mediums but changed my mind after talking to that kid!
I am glad trish never has felt pressured by drawing, she likes to do it and has some good stuff going on. I think teachers and parents need to be careful in what they say to kids about art!
