Hello, I am a journalist and mother writing an article about the link between diet and ADHD, which has recently been recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics. I am looking for parents who manage or partly manage their child's ADHD through diet (avoiding certain foods, colorings or additives) who would be willing to be interviewed. I can change names and identifying features in the article if you would prefer. The article will appear on a health website (www.ahealthyme.com). The interview can be done via email or phone. If you would be interested, you can email me at piafazul@sbcglobal.net or post to the list. Thank you all so much! Piaf, Austin TX

Hi. My daughter is un-medicated & to a small extent I do help her through diet.We do not follow any regimented program like Feingold, but I do cook homemade food, stay away from processed foods & limit the sugar & dyes as best I can. A long time ago I read somewhere that if you have an ADHD child, one rule of thumb was to not feed them anything that comes in individually wrapped cellophane packets. Thats one easy way to stay away from processed foods. Things that come packaged like that, such as Twinkies, Pop tarts, breakfast sandwiches, hot pockets, etc are FULL of preservatives & additives that are no good for anyone, let alone a child with ADHD. I make my own breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, eggs, pastries, etc, & freeze them so my daughter can easily grab them & pop them in the microwave, as she likes to do.
I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for, but if it is, then feel free to PM me...I'm happy to help.
