When I got the paperwork from the developmental peds. office it came with a letter saying that the first available appts. would be in May of 2009 and provided me with a number saying that if I did not want to wait I could call for other options. I thought it was a number of a referral service that could actually give me other options. But no it was something to do with educating me about schools which is not what I need right now. She did give me some websites but all they do is send me to other sites and then those sites direct me to another site and on and on. I have searched the web and the yellow pages and my insurance company and I cannot find what I am looking for. All I want is someone who is a specialist in Austism who can say to me "no, it's not Aspergers" and we explore other things or "yes it is Aspergers" and we can go from there to get Sean what he needs. Some psychs says yes but others say no and they all say they are not experts on autism and we need to go to someone who is. I do not feel that this can wait another year and a half, he will be going on 9 by then!

wow that is so confusing in your search to deal with all this stuff! I cannot even understand why it is so hard for you to get the assistance you need to get him help. You need an advocate to help you through all this!

Call them once or twice a week, very politely, and see if they have any cancellations. Pretty soon if they do have a cancellation your name will come to mind at the appointment desk. I know of several people who have gotten much earlier appointments by doing this. Maybe the office has a waiting list for cancellations.
