Thanks Misty! I just got back from dropping off the script and when I was there, I asked her doc about the Melatonin and he said that was fine, I could give her up to 6mg at night, so we're going to try that tonight.

Thats good & you're welcome! I give it to Shannon about a half hour before bedtime to give it a chance to kick in. My favorite thing about it is that if she was tired there was no need to give it to her. You can give it or not give it as needed...no weaning required. Let me know how it goes for your daughter.

Is anyone still taking Vyvanse? My son started it 4 weeks ago. He was on Adderall. At this point, I see no difference. He does well in school then comes home and about an hour later has his usual meltdown. We went to see the Dr on Wednesday. He prescribed us Vyvanse for the day, Adderall for the afternoon, Respirdal for night as well as Clonodine. He is only 5!!!!!!! I am only doing the Resp and Vyv. I don't like what I read about Resp.

One thing--pediatricians get no kick back from natural supplements so very rarely will they approve or recommend something like melatonin. I researched it online & started her on it without a doctors approval. It seems that my ped is unusual in many ways. I hear lots of things like this about peds and prescribing for ADHD, but mine has been so great. When I suggested the melatonin, she was all for it...even when he started wanting to stay up later even with the melatonin, she just told me he is still getting his 8 hours and not to worry about it. She very well could have prescribed a sleep med, but she has never been a 'pill pusher', even before the ADHD dx.
