I was up in the BIG CITY north of us today on some business and was done in time to go to the BIG barnes and noble there, that place is huge!!! I spent a lot of time in the art book section, COOL. And then in my search to help Ran, I found the help books for teachers and parents section, shoot, it was huge too. And this lady is there and I must of had my mouth open staring at all the books, she just started talking about teenagers and ADD. Wierd! And we talked about both our teens being newly diagnosed and stuff anyway, I found this book and bought it that is pretty thourough.
Have you all seen the book titled Teenager with ADHD and ADD, 2nd edition by Chris A. Ziegler Dandy, M.S.? If you are searching for stuff for your teenager, it looks pretty good to me, pricey brand new, but very thourough.

I can never go in a Barnes and Noble without spending well over a $100 every time. I could spend days there. I am a book freak. In fact, I think I have as many books as our little branch library. Keep us updated regarding the book.

I have another book by this author, "TEACHING TEENAGERS WITH ADD and ADHD.
This is an excellent book. It covers very thoroughly all the areas of learning that ADHD can impact, as well as ideas for accommodations for each different area. It is relevant for all ages not just teenagers. It is the best book I've seen that addresses educational needs of children with ADHD.

The one I bought has a couple chapters on that subject too.

We have that book LC at my work. I have brought it home to look at already. Even though she is only 9. Just getting ready... It is always good to plan ahead. I really think this book is good personally, it is easy reading for my own ADHD mind and broken up pretty well. Although it is directed at the teenager, I have really gained some insight for myself and some things I did not really know (you would think as an ADHD adult, I would know this stuff!). I also think the book reinforces the fact that there are so many good things in our kids along with the challenges. I like that it is positive for the most part and I like the emphasis on reframing ADD/ADHD so that the kids don't view it as a defect or disability. The book also explains the medications really well if that is the route the teenager and parent think is the way to go. There is a whole chapter on meds and comparisons and what ones seem to be better target at the ADD side and the ones that might be better on the ADHD side.

Our psychologist has supposedly written a book and I did see the title on his website but cannot find it yet at the bookstores I plan to ask him on her next visit for he has awesome ideas. His approach is a little different than most and does work especially with the ODD kids and behavior kids.
