I am not sure this goes in this category so moderators, you can move it if you need to.
1st-Noah wasn't completely potty trained until he was 4 and 2months. It wasn't because of our efforts either. We tried, he was just too defiant. He ended up doing it for his Dad. Larry actually got ugly with him one day and he decided he would FINALLY poo in the potty and that was it (he urintated at 3 1/2). He still wet at night, but no big deal...... He finally stopped bed wetting at age 5. Off and on since then, he has gone through stages of bed wetting, especially within the last 2 monts or so. No liquids afte 7:00, pee before bed, and I put a pull-up on him. He wets through the pull-up and his PJ's. The pull up drips with urine. I am going to go to Wally World and get another brand, but did anyone else go through this? My 3 year old just turned 3 in Feb and he has been completely trained for about 6 months and has never had an accident.........Ironically, Noah potty trained him-----go figure. Has anyone gone through this?

I have not gone through this, all four of my kids once trained in the day, were trained for night too, with a few accidents in the beginning.
Have you noticed a pattern to the night wetting? Is there any extra stress in his days during those times? Does he wear himself out and simply get into a much deeper sleep those nights? Have you had him checked physically to be sure there are no physical issues preventing him from staying dry all night?
Those are a lot of questions, LOL.
It could always just be him taking his sweet time to be night trained, but I would definately have things looked into to rule out physical issues if you haven't done so already. My oldest brother had night wetting issues, and did not find out till he joined the Air Force at age eighteen that he had some physical reason for it....they did a minor procedure, and he no longer has a problem. I cannot remember the details...he is ten years older than me, so I was 8 when this all happened.

It is very common for bed-wetting to happen up until around the age of 5. And it really has nothing to do with how much water they drink before bed. The Mayo Clinic says occational bed wetting at the age of 6 and 7 isn't something to be terribly concerned about. You can read here<< for the common causes.

My husband wet the bed until age 12. His mother was horrible--she'd hang his pee stained sheets out his bedroom window for all his friends to see. finally a doctor found that he had a kidney problem. I don't know all the details but they fixed the problem, ending his bed wetting. I do know the embarrassment his mother put him through still hurts him.

Oh Misty, that is awful! Your poor hubby. Humiliating a child is just the worse thing you can do.
I remember reading they have these devices that wakes the child up when there is moisture on their sheets. Sort of training them to associate waking up with wettness. I'm not sure how well they work though or even how they work, exactly.
I think Puzzled is right. Get all physical things ruled out as soon as possible.

My nephew had major problems with his bladder until they discovered there was a muscle problem of some type with a muscle. He would even have accidents in school occasionally but once he had surgery to correct it, he was fine.
I agree with the others. Some kids need longer for bladder control to mature but you should check into any physical problems which may be causing it, just to be on the safe side.

Ummm....don't know if this will be comforting but my son is 9 and still wets through a diaper at night.
Also, being a mom of a diabetic, I have to ask, is he excessively drinking water and losing weight. (those are signs of diabetes, so see a pediatrician if he is)
Otherwise...I dunno why my son still wets the bed. I feel for you though.
Anon.

They say every child is different they will do it when they are ready to. I have seen a lot of kids like that not trained until later. Annette had the concept but did not care she did it when she wanted to at age 3 1/2 and did not wet the bed until she was 6 then again at age 7 for a short time. I am crossing my fingers for she is fine now. Take it one day at a time.
